Oswego Reads was formed in 2009 as a community-wide reading initiative that would encourage reading a book in common to promote litearcy, discovery, sharing and dialogue of world issues and themes. The first community read was successfully launched in 2010. The Oswego Reads program will continue on a bi-annual basis. Click on the links to the right to see photographs from our 2010 events.
2011 represents an “off ” year for an official Oswego Reads initiative. Many Oswego residents and reading enthusiast followed SUNY Oswego’s reading initiative for 2011 Bonobo Handshake. Author Vanessa Wood was on campus on October 5th to discuss her work with Bonobos and her life. Her presentation was delightful and informative; she was an inspiration to many. Woods is shown below with SUNY Oswego provost Rameen Mohammadi.
Copies of Bonobo Handshake are currently available at the river’s end bookstore or the college bookstore in Oswego.
The 2012 reading selection will be announced within the next month – check back soon!
